Nothing changes more often than medical opinion on good health. Every week it seems like we hear that we should avoid this or consume that. Followed shortly after by conflicting advice. Most recently, it appears that Coffee may once again be healthy for us.
And that’s the key really, isn’t it. Moderation. Too much can be just as bad as too little. Too little water, you are dehydrated. However, at the other end of the spectrum, too much water is also really bad for you. So it’s finding the goldilocks instance. That right amount. Enough that you can still enjoy it, but not too much that the substance is bad for you.
Wine/Alcohol, fruit, white rice, oils/fats, eggs,… all of these are foods that at one level of consumption are healthy and necessary but can easily be overdone with very negative consequences. Most of these at some point have had differing medical opinions published on their consumption. Everything from articles touting an “avoid at all costs” approach to articles about the importance of including it in ones diet.
Opinions on individual foods change. But in the end, the key is still the same. Moderation. Finding the right amount of a variety of foods, for your needs.
