In a post a few weeks ago, I tried to highlight some of the benefits of water to achieving a healthy, toned body. The role that water plays in helping flush toxins and waste out of our bodies can’t be minimized. A recent Huffington Post Health article likens water to the fountain of youth. Once you get past the cleverly written headline, they dive back in to the age old question of how much water should you be drinking.
The old adage was 8 glasses a day. Not sure what size of glass they were using. The impact of 8 glasses (or even the 91 ounce rule) on a 240 pound man may be pretty different than on a 105 pound woman. That argument brought on a claim of 1/2 your body weight in ounces.
Water not only removes toxins, but it helps shed pounds. A glass of water first thing in the morning helps jump start the metabolism. It helps fill you up so you consume fewer calories. Drinking water and consuming foods that contain water keep the stomach fuller during meals.
So, whether you are flushing your system after a wrap or simply looking for an easy way to maintain a healthy, youthful body, drink lots of water. Maybe the fountain of youth is in your kitchen after all.
